The "Mora" rug is made from natural leather, crafted from a single piece.
Don Jesús, master artisan of the Uayno team, creates leather works through a handcrafted process. He travels deep into the countryside, visiting ranches and estates in search of hides left behind by the livestock to use in his pieces.
For 3 months, he dedicates himself to "curing" the hides, which are then washed by hand and dried in the shade. After all of this, we run them through a machine to achieve a thickness of 2.5mm or 3mm.
We take great care in the tanning process to produce rugs that are eternal and of the highest quality.
The entire process has 3 handcrafted stages:the first is the collection and curing of the hide; the second is the assembly and hand washing; and the third and final stage is the drying, tanning, and finishing of the rug.
